The same three sets of parallel pairs of the tensegrity icosahedron may be considered also as two omni-axial sets of tensegrity octahedra. This octahedron-icosahedron parallelism relationship explains why it is possible to collect tensegrity icosahedra in approximately unlimited periodic arrays.
